Who should buy Neato Robotics D9

  • The Neato Robotics D9 has a maximum battery life of 200 minutes, making it perfect for large houses.
  • The Neato Robotics D9 has a 0.7 liter dust bin, which is great for houses that tend to accumulate a lot of dirt, and people who don’t want to keep emptying it out while cleaning.
  • If you have different floor types, the Neato Robotics D9 is a suitable choice because it has a brush roll that can efficiently clean any type of floor.

Who should NOT buy Neato Robotics D9

  • If you are on a tight budget, the Neato Robotics D9 might not be the most practical robot vacuum for you. You might want to opt for more affordable robot vacuums, such as the Roborock E5, or the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo 920, that offer great results.
  • If you have lots of tables and chairs, the Neato Robotics D9 may not be the best choice. Its size makes it difficult to navigate around furniture legs.

This is our verdict of the Neato Robotics D9 based on several hours of research of reviews from both experts and users.
Updated 08-12-2021

The Neato Robotics D9 has the signature D-shape of all Neato vacuums, which offers plenty of advantages. The D9 is also equipped with many unique, advanced features. As a result, it is more expensive than other models on the market.

Unlike circular robot vacuums, the D9 has a flat front that allows it to get close to the wall, and clean the corners of a room more effectively. Another advantage of the D-shape is that it creates space for a longer brush roll than most other vacuums. This means that it can cover more space and clean faster. The brush roll of the D9 is well-suited for most types of floors such as tiles, hardwood, and carpets.
The D-shape also creates more room for a large dust bin. Most robot vacuums, like the Roborock S6 MaxV, have a dust bin capacity of 0.46 liters, while the D9 can hold up to 0.7 liters of dirt. This makes it perfect for pet owners and households that tend to accumulate a lot of dirt. It also means that you won’t have to keep emptying out while cleaning.

However, the D-shape also has some disadvantages; since the D9 is larger than the circular robot vacuums, it frequently gets stuck in narrow spaces, and has a hard time getting un-stuck. Its shape also makes it difficult to maneuver around tables and chairs.

The Neato Robotics D9 is equipped with a smart LIDAR navigation system. Because the D9 uses a laser instead of a camera, it can effectively clean every area of your house, including the dark ones.
The LIDAR navigation system allows the D9 to create an accurate map of your house, which you can find in the app. You can easily customize the map to your preferences; if you want the D9 to clean only a specific part of the room, or to avoid certain areas entirely, you can create virtual boundaries for it in the app. The cleaning zone feature is an upgrade from the Neato Robotics D8.

Another upgrade is the longer battery life. The D9 can clean for up to 200 minutes, which is more than enough for the average house. If the battery does run out, it will automatically recharge and resume cleaning where it left off. This makes it suitable for very large houses as well.

Overall, Neato Robotics D9 has many advantages. It can efficiently clean in corners, has a longer brush roll and larger dust bin than most robot vacuums, and is equipped with a smart LIDAR navigation system. Its size limits its ability to maneuver around table and chair legs, but if that is not an issue for you, the D9 will be an excellent investment.
