The Neato Robotics D8 has a unique and attractive design. It comes with a large dust bin, strong suction power, and a longer than average brush roll. It is also equipped with plenty of outstanding smart features. However, all these benefits come with a more expensive price tag.

Like other Neato products, the D8 has the signature D-shape. The front of the D8 is flat, allowing it to get close to the walls and fit into corners. This design allows it to clean the corners and edges of your house far better than the robot vacuums that have a circular shape.

Another advantage of the D-shape, is that it creates more space for the brush roll and dust bin. The D8 has a longer brush roll than circular robot vacuums, which allows it to cover more space, and pick up more dirt in a single pass. It also has one of the largest dust bins; it can hold 0.7L of dirt, which means you won’t have to empty it out while cleaning. It is very convenient for those who don’t have a lot of time to clean, as well as for those who have homes that tend to accumulate a lot of dust.

Despite the benefits of the D-shape, it has not been adopted by other brands because it also has some disadvantages. One problem is that the shape limits the robot vacuum’s ability to maneuver, and its size makes it hard to vacuum in narrow areas. As a result, the D8 frequently gets stuck. It also can’t clean around table and chair legs.
The Neato Robotics D8 is equipped with the smart LIDAR navigation system (which lets it know which areas it has and has not cleaned), ensuring excellent results. It also allows the D8 to create an accurate map that you can see in the app. The app allows you to create virtual boundaries on the map, to block off areas that you don’t want the robot vacuum to go. However, it doesn’t support zone cleaning, meaning you can’t instruct the robot vacuum to only clean a specific part of a room.

The downside of the Neato Robotics D8 is its short battery life. At 100 minutes, it is shorter than that of its predecessor the Neato Botvac D7 Connected, that can run for up to 120 minutes. The Neato Robotics D8 is more suitable for those who live in a small house or apartment. However, it will automatically recharge when it detects the low battery, and resume cleaning where it left off. So, if you live in a large house, and cleaning time is not an issue for you, you can still reap the many benefits of this robot vacuum.

Overall, the Neato Robotics D8 is a worthwhile investment. It does an excellent job of cleaning the corners of a room, has a long brush that covers broad areas, and a large dust bin that requires very little maintenance.
