The auto-empty base is one of the features that make the Lydsto R1 more expensive than other robot vacuums on the market. However, it also makes it fully automated. The auto-empty base can automatically empty the dust bin once it detects that the dustbin is full. This is great for those who have dust allergies, as it will lessen their exposure to it.

It is also beneficial for those who don’t have enough time to empty the dust bin after every cleaning cycle. The Lydsto R1’s dust bag can store up to 3L of dirt, and comes with 7 dust bags in the box – a generous number compared to most robot vacuums, like the Ecovacs Deebot N8 PRO+, that only offers 2 dust bags.

The Lydsto R1 has a strong suction power of up to 2700 Pa that allows it to deep clean carpets efficiently. When it comes to hard floors, it can pick up large debris, but struggles with fine specks of dirt because its brush does not sit close to the floor.

The Lydsto R1 also has a 2-in-1 dust bin and water tank container, so it can vacuum and mop at the same time. Its mop will remove light stains on the floor, such as footprints and spills. However, you won’t have to worry that the robot vacuum will mop your carpet, because it has an excellent carpet detection function. When the Lydsto R1 comes across a carpet, it stops mopping and increases the suction power for deeper cleaning. The Lydsto R1 also comes with a generous supply of 30 disposable mops and 1 washable mop.

The Lydsto R1 is equipped with a LIDAR navigation system, that allows it to create an accurate map of your house, to ensure that not a single spot goes uncleaned. You can view and customize the map it created in the app. You can also merge, divide and name the rooms, create "no-go" zones, "no-mop" zones and virtual walls. This feature allows you to block off areas that you don’t want the robot vacuum to clean, such as places where there are lots of cables and wires. The Lydsto R1 can save up to three maps, making it suitable for those who live in a multi-level house.

The app offers many useful features; it displays the map, and all the information you need to know about the robot vacuum. It also allows you to set up a cleaning schedule, adjust the suction power and water flow, and set rooms or areas for the Lydsto R1 to clean, in a specific order. However, you can only control the Lydsto R1 through the buttons on top of the robot vacuum, or through the app. Other robot vacuums, like the Proscenic M8 PRO, also offer remote control or voice control along with the app.

Overall, the Lydsto R1 is an excellent purchase that is well worth the price, because it comes with a 2-in-1 vacuum and mop, an auto-empty base, plenty of reusable dust bags and disposable mops, and offers lots of incredible smart features.
