Who should buy iRobot Roomba i4+

  • The iRobot Roomba i4+ is a great choice for pet owners thanks to its rubberized brush rollers reduce the amount of hair that gets stuck in the brush.
  • The iRobot Roomba i4+ has a clean base that automatically empties the dust bin, making it an excellent option for those who have allergies because it minimizes their exposure to dust. It is also great for those who have busy schedules because they will not have to empty the dust bin manually every time they clean.
  • Those who have areas they don’t want the robot vacuum to go, such as a Christmas tree or a pet’s water bowl, will appreciate the physical virtual wall device of the iRobot Roomba i4+ which prevents it from going into specific areas.

Who should NOT buy iRobot Roomba i4+

  • Those with high-pile carpets in their homes might prefer a robot vacuum with a higher suction power, such as the iRobot Roomba s9+ which has a suction power of 40x or the Ecovacs Deebot X1 OMNI with a suction power of 5000 Pa.
  • Those who are on a tight budget might prefer the ‎‎Laresar L6 Pro or the Airrobo T10+, which offer advanced features at a more affordable price.

This is our verdict of the iRobot Roomba i4+ based on several hours of research of reviews from both experts and users.
Updated 24-06-2022

The iRobot Roomba i4+ is a mid-range robot vacuum equipped with automated features that will make cleaning your house much easier.
What sets iRobot Roomba’s “+” versions from their other models, like the iRobot Roomba i4, is the clean base automatic dirt disposal docking station, which automatically empties the robot vacuum’s dust bin after every round of cleaning. Depending on how often you use the vacuum, it can store up to 60 days’ worth of dirt. A minor inconvenience of the clean base is that it makes a loud noise when emptying the dust bin, but this is a common feature of all auto-empty bases in general.
The iRobot Roomba i4+ is equipped with the iRobot’s Dirt Detect Technology. This feature allows the Roomba to detect stubborn dirt and circle over that area until it is clean. It ensures that the robot vacuum picks up all the leftover dirt, debris, and pet hair on all types of floors to leave them spotless.

This device has the iRobot’s patented dual multi-surface rubber brushes that are designed to reduce the number of hair tangles on the brush. Robot vacuums that have bristle brushes need constant maintenance because of the strands of hair that always get stuck on the brush. Although the dual rubberized brush doesn’t completely prevent hair tangles, it makes it much easier to remove them.

Unlike the lower-budget Roomba products, such as the 600 series that have a random navigation system, the iRobot Roomba i4+ follows a systematic cleaning pattern to vacuum more effectively. It uses the iAdapt 3.0 Smart Navigation and Imprint Smart Mapping technology to navigate your home and create an accurate map you can see in the app. You can use the map to instruct the robot vacuum cleaner to clean only a specific room or area of your house if you like. However, it can only save one map, unlike the Roborock S6 MaxV which can save up to four. Therefore, it is best for those who live in a single-story house or apartment.

Another thing that sets the iRobot Roomba i4+ is its wall device that comes in handy if you have areas in your house that you want it to avoid. This feature has two modes: wall mode, which creates a wall barrier, and halo mode, which creates a semi-circle around an object or area. Other robot vacuum cleaners, such as the Honiture Q6 Pro, have a “no-go zone” feature in the app that allows you to create virtual boundaries without placing a physical device on the floor, which makes them more convenient than the i4+.

Overall, the iRobot Roomba i4+ is a high-quality robot vacuum that gets the job done nicely. That said, it is a bit overpriced, considering that there are other models that are equipped with more advanced features at a lower price. It is best suited to busy people, pet owners, and those who live in single-story houses.

iRobot Roomba i4+ vs. iRobot Roomba i3+ caret-up caret-down

Pros

Has a physical virtual wall device
Better cleaning performance on low and high-pile carpets
Longer battery life (90 minutes vs. 75 minutes)

Cons

More expensive

If you have areas that you want the Roomba to avoid, then the slightly more expensive iRobot Roomba i4+ might be a good choice because it comes with a physical wall device. If you don’t have sensitive areas in your house, then the iRobot Roomba i3+ might be a better alternative because it has a lower price and offers almost the same features. However, it has a shorter battery life and lower suction power.
