Who should buy Ecovacs Ozmo T8 AIVI

  • The T8 AIVI is an excellent choice if you have a large budget, and want to own a high-end robot vacuum that is equipped with upgraded mapping ability, and unique features.
  • If you have various floor types, you might be impressed with the T8 AIVI because it automatically adjusts its suction to suit different flooring.
  • If you live with pets or kids, you might want to take advantage of T8 AIVI's AI that can detect and avoid obstacles such as toys, pet poop, shoe laces, socks, etc. It also has a strong suction power that can easily vacuum up pet hairs and small crumbs.
  • The T8 AIVI is suitable for large homes because it has a long battery life that can clean the whole floor in a single charge. It can also map the floor accurately, enabling the T8 AIVI to clean the entire house thoroughly without leaving a spot uncleaned.
  • If you are looking for an efficient robot vacuum that can also serve as a home security camera, the T8 AIVI should be at the top of your list.

Who should NOT buy Ecovacs Ozmo T8 AIVI

  • If you are on a tight budget, there are other robot vacuums that can vacuum well, but don't have the added expensive features.
  • Since the T8 AIVI has high suction power, it can be a bit loud while running at a max suction mode, which can be irritating if you have noise sensitivity.

Verdict

The Ecovacs Ozmo T8 AIVI is one of the most advanced, AI-driven, hybrid robot vacuums. It can serve as a vacuum, mop, or home monitoring device. It is equipped with advanced and unique features, so of course it also comes at a high price.

The T8 AIVI utilizes an artificial intelligence camera, plus an advanced LiDAR navigation system that levels up the robot vacuum's mapping performance. The AI identifies and avoids the obstacles that can get in the way of the robot vacuum, which solves one of the common problems of a robot vacuum – running into power cords.

The AI has a library of obstacles (such as socks, power cords, pet poop, chairs, rugs, slippers, etc.), that it will avoid automatically. Don't worry if you have objects that are not saved in the library, because if it encounters an unfamiliar obstacle, it will learn that it must be avoided, and avoid it the next time. This feature is unique and can come in handy if you have pets, because robot vacuums that don't have an AI will run over pet poop and scatter it around, leaving a bigger mess.

The camera mounted at the front can also serve as your eye inside your house whenever you are away. You can manually drive it around your home, and use it to talk to your housemates utilizing the microphone. However, it doesn't have a memory, so it won't save the live feed, which can be a bummer.

In terms of vacuuming, the T8 AIVI won't disappoint because it has a high suction power, and strong airflow that can vacuum even in between the tiles, wood and carpet. It can automatically adjust suction level depending on the floor type, making it efficient on any surface, from hard floor to high-pile carpet.

The mopping function can also deliver well using the Y-shaped mopping pattern. The mopping pattern enables the T8 AIVI to make 3 passes that provide a thorough clean. Unfortunately, you can only pour water inside the mopping tank.

For a better mopping experience, the Ecovacs offers an Ozmo Mop Pro (that you can buy separately), which vibrates up to 480 times per minute to remove set-in stains better. It has an extra large 8 ounce water tank ,that is helpful if you live in a large home of about 2,000 square feet.

The Ecovacs also offers a self-emptying dust bin that you can buy separately. It is a big help for those who have dust allergies because it can hold up to a months worth of dirt, and limits your exposure to dust. However, the auto-empty station is quite expensive, costing as much as an affordable robot vacuum.

Overall, the T8 AIVI is impressive in its mapping and navigation, but is only for those who have a big budget. The other add-ons, such as the Ozmo Mop Pro and auto-empty station are inconveniently sold separately, which adds to your expense. It is worth the investment because it is hassle-free, and can serve many roles in your home.

Ecovacs Ozmo T8 AIVI vs. Ecovacs Ozmo T8 caret-up caret-down

Pros

Uses AI-based obstacle detection
Has a front-mounted camera
Allows for live monitoring

Cons

More expensive

The Ecovacs Ozmo T8 AIVI and the Ecovacs Ozmo T8 both use the same hardware platform, so there is not much of a difference between them. They offer the same battery life (175 minutes), noise level (67dB), vacuuming, and mopping performance. They only differ in terms of obstacle detection. The Ecovacs Ozmo T8 AIVI utilizes a front-mounted camera and AI to detect objects, which also opens doors for other advanced features, such as live home monitoring and utilization of the robot vacuum’s speaker to speak to someone. Meanwhile, the Ecovacs Ozmo T8 supports the TrueDetect 3D feature, that uses lasers to avoid obstacles.

Ecovacs Ozmo T8 AIVI vs. Ecovacs Ozmo T8+ caret-up caret-down

Pros

Uses AI-based obstacle detection

Cons

Auto-empty dust bin station is sold separately

The Ecovacs Ozmo T8 AIVI is equipped with a more advanced AI-based obstacle detection, while the Ecovacs Ozmo T8+ has a TrueDetect 3D feature that uses lasers to avoid obstacles. However, the advantage of the Ecovacs Ozmo T8+ is that it already comes with an auto-empty dust bin, while the Ecovacs Ozmo T8 AIVI does not.
