This is our verdict of the Ecovacs Deebot OZMO 950 based on several hours of research of reviews from both experts and users.
The Ecovacs Deebot OZMO 950 is one of the premium robot vacuums that supports mopping and is equipped with various smart features. Of course, it comes with a price—a slightly high price.
The robot utilises LiDAR navigation that helps the robot vacuum to know which areas it has already clean and what it hasn't cleaned yet so it can cover the whole area thoroughly. Its sophisticated mapping system can show an accurate map in the app and it also allows the user to set virtual boundaries on a specific and precise location using virtual boxes or lines. This feature helps families protect fragile vases or other delicate furniture and secure off pet areas and other places where the robot might cause an accident or further trouble.
The OZMO 950 has a lower suction power of up to 1500 Pz as compared to its competitors within its price range. However, it boasts of an above-average airflow that can thoroughly clean carpets and tight areas between wood and tiles. It also has an auto-boost feature that can come in handy for users who have both hard floors and carpets because the suction power increases when the robot detects carpets. This is because carpets need more power in vacuuming, whilst hard floors don't require much suction power to clean dirt.
This robot has four different suction powers: quiet, standard, max, and max plus. Moreover, the OZMO 950 also supports four different water flow levels: low, medium, high, and ultra-high. These various choices allow the user more options to choose from so they can adjust the modes easily to determine which one best satisfies their floors since each household has different floor-cleaning needs.
The water tank of the OZMO 950 is regulated by an electronically-controlled pump that allows the robot vacuum to deliver equal water flow throughout the floor while it is mopping. As a result, it doesn't drip water often, unlike robot vacuums that depend on gravity to get water out. However, it is still not a match for a regular stick mop when it comes to cleaning tough stains since it doesn't mimic the mopping motion and pressure of a standard stick mop. It would be best if you still use a standard mop once in a while to mope deeply and thoroughly whilst the robot vacuum's mopping option can be run regularly to maintain the floor's shine.
The OZMO 950 has an impressively long battery life of up to 200 minutes of uninterrupted cleaning, which can clean a vast area on a single charge. Even in the max suction mode, it still beats its other competitors in terms of battery life.
One of the features, however, that is not impressive in the OZMO 950 is that it requires you to unplug and bring the charging base with the robot when cleaning on a different floor level. It doesn't go along with the purpose of the robot vacuum, which is to provide convenience in cleaning. Another less-than-impressive feature is that when it gets stuck or encounters trouble somewhere, it will only let you know through voice alert. It doesn't alert you via the app through push notifications, which can be a disadvantage because you might be in a different room or place, and can't hear the voice alert, and are thus unable to rescue the robot vacuum sooner.
Overall the OZMO 950 has a slightly high price but is worth the investment because of the vacuum and mop experience that it offers. Its features are efficient and helpful especially for those who have heavy-shedding pets and large homes.
